EdgeTaper Platinum™ and EdgeTaper™ are compatible with most handpieces and can be used with the motor and handpiece settings used for ProTaper® and ProTaper Gold®. With this familiar flow, transitioning to EdgeTaper Platinum™ or EdgeTaper™ should be seamless.
EdgeTaper™ is not heat treated. The product is therefore more similar to high-strength ProTaper® files with “memory”. EdgeTaper Platinum™ incorporates our Heat-Treated Firewire™ NiTi for extra strength and flexibility at a 90° bend. The lifespan of EdgeTaper Platinum® is more than 150% of the lifespan of ProTaper Gold® in the cyclic fatigue test (J Endod 2019;45:611-614, see Table 1).
Both file systems have a reinforced triangular cross-section with continuously changing taper. Available in 21mm, 25mm and 31mm lengths with six same size sterile files in each pack. Experience the new benchmark in file safety and canal access.

(J Endod 2019;45:611-614) report that our EdgeTaper Platinum instruments, manufactured using our proprietary FireWire treatment, have increased resistance to cyclic fatigue than Dentsply’s ProTaper® Gold instruments of the same dimensions. The average lifespan of the EdgeTaper® Platinum instruments is 1506.0 +/- 482.0 turns, more than 150% of the lifespan of the tested ProTaper® Gold instruments (1002.3 +/- 304.8 turns).
